Groups discover new use for social media: public affairs

Just a few years ago, technology-minded associations starting using social media mainly to keep in better touch with members. But now, it’s on to phase two, with some groups pushing these relatively new tools into lobbying and issue advocacy. Already, some early adopter associations have successfully integrated Twitter, YouTube and group blogs into lobbying efforts, says Robert Hay, manager of public policy for ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership.
